The day of Jesus’ resurrection has him appearing not only to a few women, but also to two disciples (outside of the 11) on a road to Emmaus. Their conversation and time with Jesus leads to a continual transition for them of who this “stranger” is. They move from despair to delight for the Lord is risen indeed!
