Athaliah, Ahab’s daughter, sees an opportunity to seize the throne when the king is dead. Yet, though she thinks he eliminated all potential rivals, an aunt and nurse sneak Joash, the son of the King, into hiding at the temple. After 6 years, the priest Jehoiada leads to the coronation of Joash.  Athaliah is removed, and Judah renews herself to God.
